Introduction

There are a number of skateboarding sites out there. Some talk about where to buy the skateboard and its parts, some talk about the sills and the exhibitions, some talk about the events and the skateboard superstars, but this site will be relatively different. This site will talk about, not just the hobby, but the culture.

Skateboarding is a culture. I like to look at it that way to better understand the skateboarders or the thrashers are they want to call themselves. If we always regard them as just a subculture, meaning a minority, then our tendency is to always look down at them as a cult, or as a group that is different. What's wrong with you?

Don't you have a brother who's a skateboarder? A sister perhaps? A cousin, a relative, a friend, a neighbor, an acquaintance, a classmate, a busmate, or at the very least, a schoolmate?

Well, if you don't have any acquaintances that's into skateboarding, well you must be staying at home too much. Go out kid! Life is short, don't spend it too much in front of the boobtube. For those of you who have friends or acquaintances doing skateboarding, ask yourself, “When was the last time you talked about his/her new board trick?” or do you always shy away when he/she starts talking about his skateboarding stories? Well, do not feel bad or guilty upon reading this. The thin is, you are just a victim too. Society dictates that you should veer away from subcultures because of their “cultish” practices. But fear these people no more They are no more different from you. They just feel a sense of security in their hobby (at this particular topic: skateboarding) because they think it is what they do best, and they can express themselves by so doing it. So join us in understanding the skateboarders.
